Tara Williams

Obituary of Tara Joan Williams

Banker, entrepreneur, and financial advisor, Tara Joan Williams, 67, passed away on February 22, 2023, after a determined three year battle with cancer. Tara was born and spent her young life – before her family moved to Lexington, Mass. – on the island of Montreal in Canada.

The youngest of three, her life was spent outdoors in all seasons; probably why she excelled at tennis, swimming, skiing and skating in winter. As a kid, baseball was simply a part of her life. She slept with a baseball glove and cap; a sign of the avid Boston Red Sox fan she would later become. And no hockey team, according to TJ, could come close to the Montreal Canadiens.

Tara saw the good in everyone, humor in everything, and had a profound love of life and nature in its infinite variety. California was her home of choice, hiking the Sierras and listening to the Redwoods.

Tara made Oroville her home in 1986 when she was transferred from the bay area to work at a local bank as a manager. Besides a career in banking, Tara also owned a print shop and was a licensed Spiritual Financial Health Coach. She loved music, playing racquetball and traveling. Unity of Oroville was Tara’s spiritual community for over 20 years.

In 1988, Tara met her kindred spirit, Carmen. Over the years, they took many road trips, along with Carmen’s children Patrizia, Michelle and Stray. They traveled extensively in the Western US, from Mexico to Canada. Tara particularly loved driving through Hwy. 70’s Feather River Canyon. Oftentimes, the car was their conference room where they brainstormed their next business and travel adventures.

Tara is survived by her partner Carmen, Patrizia, Michelle and Stray, sisters Darina and Leslie, niece Seana, and stepdaughter Cindy. She is preceded in death by her parents Billy and Rita and aunt Ita.

Her family will celebrate her life privately.
