Obituary of Linda Louise Richey

Linda L. Richey was welcomed with open arms by her husband, Gary, on January 16, 2022. Linda died peacefully at home on her terms with courage and grace, surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 21, 1944. She grew up in Pasco, Washington and moved to Gridley when she married Gary in 1963. Linda was committed to sharing her love of reading, learning, and creativity with everyone, both professionally and at home. She worked for Gridley Unified School District as an instructional aid for thirty years, and she was active in the Manzanita School Parent Club. Some of her favorite activities included sewing, reading, and crafting as well as playing bingo and cards. Her family has fond memories of trying new projects with her and failing to beat her in games of Spite. Linda had a zest for life that was infectious. She was a member of the Gridley Dance Club, the Loyal Order of the Moose, and The Turtles and she loved to laugh, dance, and spend time with her loved ones. She was a terrific storyteller and had a lively sense of humor. Linda was the definition of abundant generosity and thoughtfulness. She wanted everyone she met to feel welcomed and accepted just as they were. Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren as well as the children of all her family and friends. Through her smile and unconditional warmth, Linda’s light shined bright for all who knew her. Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Gary; her mother, Rubye Price; her father, Stanford Bates; and her brother, Thomas Price. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Kelly and Jack Kemmerly of Yuba City, California and Kathy and Randy Harlan of Janesville, California. She is also survived by her siblings Roger Price (Karen) of Kennewick, Washington; Michael Price of Pasco; and Vicki Marte (Dan) of Mesa, Arizona; as well as her sister-in-law Betty Stewart of Gridley. Her greatest legacy is her six amazing grandchildren: Karah Kemmerly of Portland, Oregon; Brennah Kemmerly of Yuba City, California; Madisyn Harlan of Janesville; Garyn Harlan of Boise, Idaho; Sawyer Kemmerly of Yuba City; and Graceyn Harlan of Janesville. Linda is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Linda’s life.
